Hilo Medical Center and the HMC Foundation recently hosted a welcome reception for the first class of residents of the Hawaii Island Family Medicine Residency Program: Ka‘ohimanu Dang Akiona Hamed Ahmadinia and Svetlana Shchedrina, with a fourth resident to be announced later.

Hilo Medical Center and the HMC Foundation recently hosted a welcome reception for the first class of residents of the Hawaii Island Family Medicine Residency Program: Ka‘ohimanu Dang Akiona Hamed Ahmadinia and Svetlana Shchedrina, with a fourth resident to be announced later.

Ahmadinia is a graduate of the American University of Antigua and a former Oahu personal trainer and University of Hawaii at Manoa graduate student.

Akiona is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, recipient of the Native Hawaiian Health Scholarship and researcher on cancer care for Native Hawaiians with Papa Ola Lokahi/‘Imi Hale.

Svetlana Shchedrina is a Russian National Research Medical University graduate and resident of Hilo since 2011.
